Bad dog breeders in spain and what you should be aware of before buying puppies in spain |

Several of our clients have noticed over the last few years that their dogs are having problems with stiffness and lameness and becoming lethargic or grumpy. Apon further investigation at the vets x-rays have shown some very bad cases of hip displasia and ossifying spondalosis of the spine. A lot of the dogs suffering from these conditions are boxers but all breeds are affected. Hip displasia and spondalosis are hereditary problems caused by people breeding from dogs that already have these existing problems. These are what i call back shed breeders. They do not know what they are doing and they don't x-ray there dogs before breeding them. They breed dogs that are not pedigree or papered. Sometimes they may have papers but if they x-rayed the dogs they would find terrible problems which they are passing onto the next generation. They also breed dogs with poor conformation and sometimes very bad temperaments. All they are interested in is making money. Any dog that has been diagnosed with HD or spondlosis will eventually be in a lot of pain and will need to be euthanised at a young age. No dog should be breed from with these problems ever. We recommend that you buy your puppies from professional dog breeders who will be happy to show you the x-rays and or results. Make sure you always ask to see the parents of the puppies, or at least the mother. You would be amazed at how many of the back shed breeders will try not to show you the mother. This is because she is in such a poor condition as she used to breed from season after season after season. These people are only interested in making easy money and not interested in you having a healthy sound puppy that will live to its old age without pain. We will only buy our puppies from professional breeders and even then we wont buy unless they can show us x-rays and proof of bloodlines. I insist on seeing at least one the parents when i go to view the puppies. Sometimes it is not possible to see the father as they are police service dogs. The puppies we purchase cost us a few hundred euros more but we know that we have got sound healthy pups that are capable of doing their jobs.
